Frontline Plus is generally safe for cats when used as directed. Frontline Plus for cats is a spot-on treatment that kills fleas, ticks, flea eggs, and larvae on your cat and in their environment.

It also kills mosquitoes and can treat other parasites like chiggers and mange mites.

It is safe for cats older than 8 weeks of age, pregnant, breeding, or lactating cats, and waterproof.

It has been trusted by pet owners for 20 years.

Frontline Plus for cats works by targeting multiple life cycles for fleas and ticks, effectively killing adults, larvae, and eggs.

Applied as a topical solution, Frontline Plus for cats is stored in the oil glands of your pet’s skin to protect against pests for a full 30 days.

It contains two active ingredients: fipronil and (S)-methoprene. Fipronil is a phenylpyrazole antiparasitic agent that disrupts the nerve channels of invertebrates, causing neurologic overexcitement and death.

(S)-methoprene is an insect growth regulator that prevents flea eggs and larvae from developing into adults.

Frontline Plus for cats is only safe and effective if you apply it to your cat’s skin—not when taken internally—so it’s important that it’s applied in between your cat’s shoulder blades and not ingested.

If you have multiple cats, keep them separated for 24-72 hours after application.

How long does Frontline Plus last on a cat?

Frontline Plus lasts for 30 days on a cat. It is applied as a topical solution that is stored in the oil glands of your pet’s skin to protect against fleas and ticks for a full month.

You should not use Frontline Plus on your cat more than once per month. If you continue to have flea or tick infestations, re-apply the medication after one month.

What are the side effects of Frontline Plus in cats?

Frontline Plus for cats is generally safe and effective when used properly.

However, some possible side effects of Frontline Plus for cats include:

    • Temporary redness or skin irritation
    • Lack of appetite
    • Diarrhea
    • Drooling

Is Frontline Plus safe for pregnant cats?

Frontline Plus for cats is safe for pregnant cats. It is approved and licensed to be used on pregnant and lactating cats and does not cause any significant side effects.

You can use Frontline Plus for cats to treat and control flea, tick, and chewing lice infestations on your pregnant cat.

You should apply the product once every 30 days for maximum protection.

Is Frontline Plus safe for nursing cats?

Yes, Frontline Plus for cats is safe for nursing cats. Irrespective of breed status, all cats can benefit from this flea and tick product.

Nevertheless, prior consultation with a veterinary expert should be a crucial element in decision-making for animal lovers who are considering using such treatment applications on their cats.

This becomes even more pertinent when a cat has underlying medical conditions.

It’s mandatory that directions about dosing level by weight are followed diligently.

Can Frontline Plus be used on kittens?

Frontline Plus for cats can be used on kittens as young as 8 weeks of age.

However, for younger pets, a sister product, Frontline Spray, is recommended.

It contains Fipronil and can be used on animals from 2 days after birth, making it possible to protect all pets without concerns.

What should I do if my cat gets Frontline Plus in its eyes or mouth?

If a cat accidentally gets Frontline Plus in its eyes or mouth, it’s essential to act quickly to minimize any adverse effects.

First, if the medication has entered the cat’s eye, rinse it with a sterile eye irrigation solution or room-temperature milk.

Then, contact a vet immediately for additional steps to take and signs to monitor. If the cat ingests the medication, offer it a small amount of food to help relieve the bad taste.
